Plan Nord
“The sustainable development of Northern Québec implies reviewing ways of doing things and acting differently.”
For the community wellbeing and development:
For GéoMégA, Development of Northern Quebec should be done first and foremost for the people of Northern Quebec. As such, our goal is not only to extract the resource, but to implement or help implement the transformations of the ore as close as possible to the deposit and its surrounding communities. For rare earths, this starts with concentration and separation of rare earth elements (REE) into oxides, but local production of permanent neodymium magnets should also be envisioned.
Moreover, Geomega has sought from the outset to develop a dialogue with the communities of Waswanipi and Lebel-sur Quévillon in order to inform them of our plans and progress, and to ensure their involvement in the project.
Highlighting the immense potential of Northern Quebec:
In order to truly showcase the potential of the North, GeoMega believes we must consider the whole chain of value that could be spawned from the development of the resource. As such, GeoMega also envisions looking for partners who could join us in helping develop REE consuming industries locally, such as green energy or hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as their supply chains.
Protecting the environment:
At GéoMégA, minimizing negative impacts on the environment is done through the constant search for lower impact.
At GéoMégA, protecting the environment is also done through innovation, i.e. through the development of a process of extraction and separation of REEs designed to be the cleanest in the industry.
